The Department of Health Bicol, during its press briefing today, June 4, 2018, highlighted the importance of a smoke-free environment and smoking cessation as it celebrates the National No Smoking Month. The celebration's theme, "Tobacco Breaks Hearts", gave emphasis on the health risks of smoking especially its impact on cardiovascular health.

Regional Director Dr. Napoleon L. Arevalo advocated everyone's involvement in achieving a 100% smoke-free environment and make every day a 'World No Tobacco Day'. He added that local chief executives must have political will to ensure a smoke-free environment as stated in the Executive Order No. 26 or the Nationwide smoking ban.

Ms. Windalyn Baluis, DOH Bicol Healthy Lifestyle Coordinator, encouraged smokers to quit and the public to never begin smoking to ensure healthy living.
