The Information and Education Campaign (IEC) of Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Balik Scientist Program (BSP) and other Human Resource Development Programs was hosted in the Bicol Region by the BCHRD on September 25, 2014 at Bicol University College of Nursing Function Hall, Legazpi City.
The activity was facilitated by the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) and Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) as part of the DOST’s celebration of the National Science and Technology Week, with the theme “Philippines: A Science Nation Meeting Global Challenges” which aimed to disseminate information on available DOST human resource development programs that would capacitate research institutions and universities, towards building a “Science Nation”.
Its objective is to strengthen the scientific and technological human resources of academic, public and private institutions in order to accelerate the flow of technologies and stimulates the development of new strategically important technologies that are vital to national development and progress.
The resource speakers were Ma.Belen Balbuena of PCHRD and Glenda Sacbibit of PCIERD who shared the Programs offered and the financial assistance provided, who are qualified to apply/avail the BSP, process for application, obligations and responsibilities of the parties (BSP and applicant). The activity was participated by the BCHRD and the PCIERD members, faculty members and staff from health agencies of Region V. DOST director Tomas Briñas was represented by Dr. Pilita Lucena for the opening remarks, while Dr. Fay Lea Patria M. Lauraya , SUC President IV and Chairperson of BCHRD, had delivered the closing remarks.
