CEBU CITY- The seventeen (17) regional health research consortia were gathered by the DOST-PCHRD through the Symmetrix Research Consultancy Co. for a regional consultation on the standardization of the Basic Research Methods Training Module last September 4-5, 2018 at the Golden prince Hotel and Suites, Cebu City, Philippines.
LEGAZPI CITY- The BCHRD Resource Mobilization Committee (ResMob) conducted a meeting with representatives from the Department of Health Center for Health Development V (CHD V) to discuss issues on the memorandum of agreement on funding health researches and management of research funds.
As one of the identified initiatives identified during the series of the regional consultations of the Capacity Building Committee of Philippine National Health Research System, the committee should develop a standard training materials for the capacity building activities undertaken by the regional consortia.
PNHRS CAPACITY BUILDING COMMITTEE BUSINESS MEETING AND NETWORK COCKTAIL DINNER
The DOST-PCHRD arranged a Capacity Building Committee Business Meeting and Networking Cocktail Dinner last August 6, 2018, 5:00-9:00 PM at the Forest Lodge, Camp John Hay, Baguio City. The gathering aimed to formalize the creation of the PNHRS Expanded Capacity Building Committee and to validate the next steps identified during the regional consultation meetings.

Baguio City – The Philippine National Health Research System Structure Organization Monitoring Committee conducted a session on Enhancing the Quality of Monitoring of Data from the Consortia as part of the 12th PNHRS Week Celebration held last August 6, 2018, at Functions Room 3&4, CAP John Hay Trade and Cultural Center, Camp John Hay, Baguio City, Benguet.
LASA SELECTED TO PRESENT PROPOSAL ON DRR-CCA
After the tedious process of the DRR-CCA proposal writing and undergoing three (3) phases of writing workshop and mentoring, the proposal entitled,"Health Emergency and Disaster Risk Reduction Programs for PWDs in the Flood prone Areas in the Province of Camarines Sur" was shortlisted by DOST-PCHRD for its final phase of technical evaluation for possible funding consideration.
Evangelista represents Region V to PNHRS Research Poster Contest
Ms. Abelisa D. Evangelista, a health researcher from Catanduanes State University represented Region V to the 12th PNHRS Research Poster Contest for professionals. Her projects entitled "Phythochemical Screening and Cythotoxic of Pseudostem Ethanolic Extracts from Three Cultivars of Abaca (Musa textilis Née) in Catanduanes" was presented to a panel of experts during the PNHRS 2018 Research Poster Presentation (Professional Category) at the Cap-John Hay Trade and Cultural Center, Baguio City.

BRTTH-IRB granted Level 3 PHREB Accreditation
Baguio City - The Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital - Institutional Review Board (BRTTH-IRB) had been granted Level 3 Accreditation by the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB). Awarding of accreditation took place during the 12th Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) Week Celebration closing program last August 9, 2018, held at CAP John Hay Trade and Cultural Center, Camp John Hay, Baguio City, Benguet.
BCHRD bagged 2nd Place in Best Consortium Poster
During the 12th PNHRS National Conference Awarding ceremony, the BCHRD got second place in the Best Consortium Poster among the 17 regional consortia. Based from this year's PNHRS theme: " Research and Innovation for Equity in Health", BCHRD highlighted the activities and efforts made by the consortium and its stakeholders to achieve quick access to Health Service, health care and education for the Bicolanos which includes Community Capacity Building, Institutional Change and Policy change.
Last July 4, 2018 the BCHRD RHRCC conducts its 12th Regional Health Research Coordinating Council Meeting at Bicol University GASS. The primary objective of BCHRD is to institute/strengthen the system of collaboration in Bicol to develop and enhance the capacity of research institutions within the region which have interest and engage in health and related researches, as a strategy to improve the health conditions of the Bicolanos.
LEGAZPI CITY- The Regional Development Council- Research and Development Committee conducted the R&D Summit last May 30, 2018 at the RDC Hall, NEDA V, Arimaby, Legazpi City. The said summit, in partnership with the DOST V and the three (3) Regional S&T consortia, was attended by representatives from national government agencies, local government units, SUC's and HEI's and private organizations to disseminate the draft regional research agenda for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources (AANR), Health, Industry, Energy and Emerging technology and Basic Research as a product of the Stakeholder's Consultative Meeting last May 11, 2018.
