LEGAZPI CITY, April 14, 2018 --  The Bicol Consortium for Health Research and Development-Capacity Building Committee called for a meeting to prepare for the presentation during the PNHRS-CBC Regional Consultative Meeting Luzon Cluster last April 13, 2018, held at BCHRD Office, Climate Change Academy Building, Bicol University Compound, Legazpi City.

LEGAZPI CITY, May 3, 2018 --  The Bicol Consortium for Health Research and Development – Research Ethics Committee (BCHRD-REC) conducted a meeting last May 3, 2018 held at Research Office Conference Room, Universidad de Sta. Isabel, Naga City, Camarines Sur.

Legazpi City --- April 21, 2018.  Bicol Consortium for Health Research and Development (BCHRD) RICUC Committee meeting held its 2nd Quarter Meeting on April 20, 2018.

Last April 16-19, 2018, the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) together with the Forum for Ethical Review Committees in Asia and the Western Pacific (FERCAP) conducted a joint accreditation visit at Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH). 

 

WHO Scientist Dr. Bernadette Ramirez gave emphasis on the importance of participatory research in health during her keynote speech at the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development 36th Anniversary last March 16, 2018 at the Philippine International Convention Center, Roxas Boulevard, Manila.

Legazpi City --- April 04, 2018.  Pursuing excellence in research, the Bicol Consortium for Health Research and Development (BCHRD) held its Commencement Exercises for the 15 "Bicol Health Research Training and Development Program” (Bicol HeaRT) scholars in Legazpi City this April 03, 2018.

Legazpi City --- February 23, 2018. Bicol Consortium for Health Research and Development conducts its Strategic Plan and Operations Planning for 2018-2022.

Bicol consortium for Health Research and Development members met last February 22-23, 2018 at Hotel Venezia, Legazpi City. The main purpose of which was to review the strategic and operations plan that will be continued for 2018.

Legazpi City --- February 22, 2018; Bicol Consortium for Health Research and Development conducted its 1st Technical Working Group Quarterly meeting for 2018.

BCHRD spearheaded a meeting to deliver the accomplishments of the consortium for 2017, and to introduce the additional members to formulate and re-organize the two committees; the Structure, Organization, Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (SOME) and Research Mobilization Committee (ResMOB), held at Hotel Venezia Hall 4 on February 21, 2018.

Director Michael V. Montealegre acknowledged and introduced the new faces in the meeting as the new members of the consortium. He also introduced the new coordinator of the consortium from DOST-PCHRD; Mr. Nico Parungao. The history of the consortium, the accomplishments for 2017, the challenges and observations was also presented. After presenting the consortium's updates, Dr. Sandy Lasa presided the reorganization of the committee and the flow of nomination. Then, Dr. Jensy Ong presented the changes in TRB.

The formation of the SOME Committee and ResMob Committee was approved by the other existing committees and was recommended for the approval of  the council. Here are the list of the new faces of the Bicol Consortium for the Health Research and Development.

Legazpi City --- Februry 9, 2018 Bicol Consortium for Health Research and Development visit's Camarines Norte State College to be part of the Consortium

As part of Bicol Consortium for Health Research and Development's effort on disseminating and expanding the research and development oppurtunity in the region, representative from the BCHRD conducted an institutional visits to Camarines Norte State College last February 9, 2018. This was spearheaded by the consortium's director Michael Montealegre.

The BCHRD representatives were warmly welcomed by the president, deans and program heads of Camarines Norte State College. Director Montealegre first introduced the background of BCHRD and its vision to bicolanos with it comes to health research and development. BICOL-RUHRA as regions blueprint of health research was introduced to them as what the bicol region needs.

Two of the new programs of BCHRD was also introduced to the CNSC for them to know the benefit of it. B10share (BICOL ONE SYSTEM FOR HEALTH RESEARCH ENVIRONMENT) as an environment for researcher. This provides resources that will establish strategic research support. Bicol Heart (Bicol Health Research Training and Development Program) as a training and workshop for researcher's to upgrade thier confidence in conducting their research proposal. This two programs was the highlight of the visit for the institution's to understand the importance of joining the consortium.

Legazpi City --- January 29, 2018 Bicol HeaRT Scholars filled the venue at the Hotel Venezia for Module 3 Bicol Heart Training.

 

Identified scholars for Bicol Heart Training attended the Module 3: Statistical Analysis. The objective of the training is to be able to learn and apply data management, sampling and selected methods of data analysis for health research, in particular for their own projects in preparation.

LEGAZPI, Albay- A total of Forty researchers participated in the 13th National Medical Writing Workshop and 6th Writeshop for Young Researchers last January 8-9 2018 at The Oriental Hotel in Legazpi.

With the beautiful Mayon Volcano the participants enjoy the two-day intensive workshop in Legazpi City. The workshop aims to equip researchers in health and health social sciences to acquire hands-on knowledge and skills in preparing a scientific article for publication in a scholarly peer-reviewed journal. Organized by the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD), in cooperation with the Philippine Association of Medical Journal Editors (PAMJE) and Asia Pacific Association of Medical Journal Editors (APAME) and also in partnership of Bicol Consortium for Health Research and Development

 

Legazpi City --- December 1, 2017. This year BCHRD launch its first Scholarship Program, the BICOL HeaRT (Bicol Health Research Training and Development Program) which aims to capacitate researchers who have interest in conducting health and health-related researches along with the identified research priorities in the region. The idea of this program is first to accept concept note that is mainly included in the regions priority of health research. The concept notes have been evaluated for choosing the candidate for the scholarship program. Bicol Heart Scholars participated the venue at the Hotel Venezia for MOA and Module 1 & 2 Workshop Training.

Last November 8, 2017, the scholars of Bicol Heart gather the venue at the Hotel Venezia, Hall 2 for MOA Signing. Dir. Michael Montealegre, BCHRD Director introduced the terms and guidelines regarding the scholarship program. Dr. Ernie V. Vera, the assistant regional director of DOH delivered a welcome message in lieu of DOH Regional Director, Dr. Napoleon Arevalo. who was not able to attend the event due to a prior commitment. Also, the presence of the head of the agencies and institutions also attend the MOA Signing for the support of the selected Scholars.

A total of 32 concept notes from the different institutions and agencies were submitted to the BCHRD for the application of scholarship. Only 15 of concept notes received the scholarship program. The first batch of the scholars is mainly prioritizing the health service, which is the top priority of the region. Researcher for Batch 1 Bicol Heart Program undergo series of training and workshop. The module one and two discuss on working their Technical Paper and Research Method which is dated on November 9-10, 2017.

The objective of the workshop is to refresh our researcher, recognize different types of health research and their roles and can distinguish between science and research and between research and development. Understand principles of relevant methodologies for health research including sampling, questionnaires, and data management. The output of this workshop is for them to prepare quality research proposals worthy of funding.
